Flashes In The Night Sky

UFOs or High Altitude "Star Wars" ?

Day 1 (5/28/00) – The Return Of The PCs

Have not seen maybe a handful of persistent contrails in the skies around the Lewisville Lake area north of Dallas over the last couple of months. When they do occur, they are usually segmented puffy white to thinning strips. Most of these appear to be commercial airliners moving through PC clouds or haze and leaving ‘remnants’ behind either from a sudden increase of moisture in those areas or the effects of the components of these particular PC related clouds.

But today true to form higher altitude PCs are back in force on blue skies. Decided since "they" those illusive contrail makers are back -- white tankers laying contrails and making cirrus-like clouds all over -- I would look up with binocs and maybe take a few pictures.

As I was looking about 20 degrees above horizon ,I caught sight of two "normal" contrails moving together downward toward the horizon to the north...one at a slightly different angle than the other...lost sight of them below the houses. Went to a clearing to see where they went...gone.

I had noticed upon searching the skies with my binoculars that there were what appeared to be thousands of irridescent flecks and strands moving overhead....seeming to cover the sky like a blizzard. They may have been an unbelievable amount of seeds and cobwebs (some in excess of 30 feet) travelling together in massive numbers... but I though this curious. The high reflectivity and differing sizes and shapes of the "flecks" (rangingfrom 1/2" to perhap 6 inches in diameter) was what got my attention.

I have since researched and found that DARPA and some universities are developing "smartdust" and "mote" -- micro to small remote devices which can resemble seeds as they are released and intercommunitcate among one another about weather conditions and other reconaisance information. Many of these are made from silicon and would have a stark reflectivity in the sunlight.

That night I decided to go out with a flashlight a little after 11p to shine it up to see if these small "seeds" and "webs" were still up there. Turned it on...looked up and saw loads of gorgeous stars...one a little gold looking. Turned it off...looked up...and there was that gold star starting to move across the sky.

Haven't seen a "Night Flyer" in a long time...they are oval golden-white the size of medium to large stars...erratic in flight..usually snaking or zig-zagging across the skies...Sometimes crossing each other or moving passed each other. This one was moving all over the place after hovering.

Day 2 (5/29/00) -- The Flash I

A friend and I decided to go out around 9:30 last night and look up with binocs. The sky was clear and the stars were gorgeous!

Anyway--not too long after we went out--we spotted a bright gold-white light moving toward the NW almost overhead about the size of a large star or Jupiter. As we watched it suddenly dimmed...could only see it with binocs as it continued a snake-like movement across the sky.

For whatever reason... after the flashlight thing the night before...and the "NightFlyer" incident last July (on my site)... I decided to see if I could stimulate a response. So I just started talking to it or them--asking if they would brighten up again or start flashing or something. The object just continued on across the sky...

At about 9:40 was looking almost straight up with binocs -- and lo and behold there was a flash of light... then another.. coming from the same location. My friend and I timed the flashes...every 5 seconds. Theflasher moved a bit to the west for a couple of minutes...staying completely stationary...flashing. Then to the north of that for a while...still stationary and flashing. Then an aircraft approached from the NW toward the area and the flashing stopped.

Then a few seconds later... there appeared a dim gold-white light which began moving NW...

Day 3 (5/30/00) – Flare, NightFlyers and Flash II…

Read about the flashing light near the Atlantis (tail) Sat. night? James Oberg no less says the NASA TV footage is an absolute "Bingo"! Light brilliant at times...

Maybe this is the flashing I've been seeing up there...?

Last night a friend and decided to flash the "flasher" with a flashlight. Felt extremely silly...neighbors probably think...who knows what the neighbors think after last summer...

Anyway -- was out about 40 minutes scanning the night sky...had seen an Iridium flare just after 9p...pretty cool. Then at the same time as I saw the flashing light last night...I decided to flash the flashlight 5 times at 5 sec intervals (like the one last night did for 10 min).

Within seconds-- at the last location (out of four) of the light I saw the night before (around (9:50p the night before -- last night 9:40) -- a flash...then another... every 12 seconds this time. Only 5 flashes and then nothing. I flashed my light every time it did -- have no idea what I was doing or if it had anything to do with what I saw... but if it was a coincidence... it was an astounding one!

Day 4 (5/31/00) -- Flash Becomes Erratic – A Blue Light "Explosion"

Went out again with a friend at 9:30p...and immediately directly overhead... this time brilliant flashes interpersed with dim ones -- four positions different from before but in the same area. It started 5
seconds apart then went to 10 seconds apart.

In common: They have all stopped at the same point. They have all lasted10 minutes (as far as we could tell).

This one was so much more erratic -- at one point instead of a bright downward looking flash -- small at start to larger in diameter – it looked like a double "explosion" -- like small light blue ball lighting
muffled within a cloud. Did this just once.

Right after this -- we saw 5 NightFlyers within 30 minutes moving mostly NW and SE -- zig zagging and changing course on a curve. Went out later and nothing up there.

Is this a signal for the "games" to begin? Is this a battle? Is this communication to us? Is this one of those spheres playing around? Is it from outer space? It really looked much lower tonight.

Day 5 (6/1/00) – Flash! No Flash! PC Clouds Move In…

But What A Surprise!

Well, went out last night a little after 8 -- and noticed a short strip of puffy PC almost overhead -- followed it and a little thin stream. Then another little puffy one to the SW and a few thin streams crossing each other. Then a white strange looking plane overhead...no PC.

I said to myself earlier -- bet no flash tonite. Premonition? Perhaps. I also decided to try to communicate "telepathically" stating to whomever that I was ready for a closer look…so long it would not be harmful to myself or my friend who would be out with me that night.

Saw a Nightflyer moving NW...As it got close to 9:30...the time of the flash occurrence on previous nights... these thin PC clouds began obscuring the sky right where the flash was coming from... eventually moved on... don't know if I missed anything...

But as I was about the call it quits – I decided to experiment again with my flashlight…just beam it up there and see if I could elicit a response. I leaned back with flashlight in one hand and binoculars ready to go in the other… and turned on the flashlight….looked up at the beam unaided….and got the surprise of my life! Something moved through the beam at approximately 50 feet up. At first I thought it was a large bird… it had to have been at least 3 feet long and 2 feet wide. We do have herons and ducks that fly over occasionally. But this had no appendages and was much wider than any bird I know of.

The object (for lack of a better word) appeared to be eliptical in shape, light grayish tan in color, looking "hazy", and was very fast. Perhaps we have had yet another "call down" visit (like the "NightFlyer" on 7/27/99) … only this one much closer? I only saw it briefly but my impression was it was friendly and …with a smooth and ethereal feel to its flight. But because it was so fast… I of course cannot be 100%.

Right after this -- my friend pointed out an off-color nightflyer moving through and below the clouds south of our location toward the east -- curving in its path. I grabbed my binoculars and saw one light turning a slightly hazy reddish color...then shortly moved out of sight. The clouds were approximately at 5-7000 feet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple of pet theories about the "clouds" is that they are just leftovers from PCs (these PCs were low and small --looked more like some I have seen produced by objects)... but I think they well may be helpful to some and deadly (or at least a repellent) to others. Maybe camouflage too.
My friend and I saw no flash but did see in addition to the regular NightFlyers one flying low -- and both at the same time in a split second saw a rather dim white illuminated object whizzing by at astronomical speeds! This repeated a while later...
So we got the reg. NFs coursing across the skies...we got white extremely fast "travelers" (my friend now calls them)... and flashes. Maybe the flashes were a communication device (the 5, 10, 12 secondsintervals) or maybe signs of a battle (the double blue muffled lights instead of a flash made me think this). Maybe the PCs are part of this battle. Who knows?
I was reading reports and ran across one describing lights dashing around and zaps and flashes -- which he thot could be a battle...interesting... Maybe this is just how they interact?
Mysteries...mysteries...
6/4/00 Returned – Luminescent Waveform PC Clouds --
Three Sporadic Flashes
I was just out again -- just about got eaten alive by the mosquitos --but was amazed by the white luminous contrails and PC waveform clouds overhead. Wow! Glowed even! Below cloud level...maybe 7000 ft.
Saw a couple of sporadic flashes near Upsilon Andromeda for general reference (finally read the starchart right). Don't think these are from Andromeda :] -- but interesting that they are always in that vicinity as seen from here. I think planets have been discovered around UA. Hmmm...Somebody trying to hint at something?
Commentary
I still do not know how to explain these strange flashes in the night sky near Lewisville Lake north of Dallas, Texas. No known Iridium flares or orbiting satellites could account for this light bursts and possible "explosions". At first the flashes were all bright white light appearing to be directed downward—moving from a point of light to a widening circumference and were at specific timed intervals (5, 10, 12 seconds apart) stationary in only a few locations for exactly 10 minutes.
This changed over time… the flashes becoming more erratic… brilliantly "concentric" flashing interspersed with dim soft flashes… becoming larger then smaller in circumference. One of the flashes appeared as a double (side by side) light blue "explosion"…reminiscent of two very small areas of blue lightning muffled by clouds.
One could only see this with binoculars. The size ranged from +8 to -5 in magnitude and intensity as compared with the surrounding stars. The reason perhaps these flashes could not be seen in the below +6 range was the split second nature of the flash and their sudden movement to a different location. All sightings of these flashes as seen from this location could be referenced by looking at the area of Upsilon Andromeda and the Triangulum and a bit further toward the southwest.
Flash of white light every 5 seconds moving very slowly from West to East thru The Great
Square/Pegusus.
Was out doing my nightly star gazing and veiwed in The Great Square / Pegasus a light flashing approximately every 5 seconds. This flash was moving very slowly and a very high altitude. The color of the flash was white, and it was moving very slowly from West to East. I viewed for approximately 5 minutes with both 7x35 and 10x50 binoculars. It never made it all the way thru The Great Square when it no longer flashed to be visible. I watch the skys quite a bit and can judge high altitude aircraft speed thru the sky, but this was moving very slowly.
Bright flashing light in sky
As we were driving North on I-35 just south of the city of Ames Iowa, my wife noticed a bright flash of light, similar to a giant strobe light in the sky. At first we thought it was a plane, but the flash was on a highly irregular pattern. The light seemed to be quite high in the sky and very bright. It also seemed to hover at times and then move across the sky before it flashed again. The 3 kids in the back saw it as well.
Spotted flashing light then a glowing ball of light.
Driving down the freeway we saw a white and orangish flashing light moving eradically through the sky.It seemed to jump from one point to another then it just vanished.about 3 minutes later we saw a orangeish ball of light way to low and to bright to be a star we watched it for about 6 minutes before it was gone.we could tell it wasnt a star because of the color and it was moving just enough to notice...it was sort of twinkling...almost like pretending to be a star.it kept fading untill it was gone alltogether.about 1 minute later it appeared again in a compleatly different part of the sky,doing the same thing,for about 1 minute then it faded out and we did not see it again.
Flashes of white light the size of a bright star in the New Zealand night sky.
It was a clear night with many stars out, I was only outside to have a smoke before I went to bed. As there aint alot to look at in my back yard I started to look up at the stars and to find constellations like the Southern cross etc. As I was looking in a ssw direction at approx 45degrees I noticed a flash 10-15degrees below where I was looking. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me since I noticed the flash in my peripheral vision, but as I looked at the spot where the flash occurred I saw another flash in around the same place. This second flash occurred maybe 15secs after the first and was the shape/size/colour of a bright star. Then as I was pondering what it was that I saw, I saw another flash exactly the same as the second and then another following 2-3secs after. Then as my mind started racing to explain this flashing I saw a smaller dimmer object the size/shape/colour of a faint star appear a thumbs width to the left of where the flashes ocurred moving diagonally down to the right at about a 30-35 dgree angle and then disappear just after it crossed the up/down 90degree angle line of where the flashes
ocurred. The smaller, dimmer, moving object moved the distance of 1 and a 1/2-2 thumb widths alltogether and this took around the time it takes to say "one". I could not see any shape to these objects as they must have been too far away. After realizing what I'd seen was most definately a U.F.O. I became very excited and ran inside to get a flashlight to signal back as it seemed "they" might have been using morse code, but this was in vain as I did not see anything else unusual that night.
