I received a copy of a video from Gregory Avery LLC (State Director of Louisiana MUFON) June 27, 2000 taken in June of 2000 and was asked for my observations and comments. While I am not a professional photo analyst, I have observed anomalous objects in the atmosphere and examined hundreds of photographs with apparent objects in them – some of which I have enhanced for further study by researchers and photo analysts. What I offer below is my preliminary description and observations of Avery’s video as it was presented to me.

OBJECT DESCRIPTION/GENERAL OBSERVATIONS

Both light and dark objects are seen in and near persistent contrails. At times light and dark objects move toward one another seeming to combine into one unit. Both light and dark objects appear to move in a very quick ‘hover and jump’ though smoother motion is observed.

Some dark objects appear to be surrounded by an amorphous gaseous appearing substance. The core appears as slightly elliptical or rounded in shape.

There are a few striking images of light oval shaped objects approaching, moving behind and reappearing from both persistent contrails and nearby clouds.

As a light object approaches the persistent contrail, it can become more translucent – taking on a cloud-like appearance -- increasing its size and changing from a rather crisp delineated shape to an irregular one (perhaps moving into or behind the PC or taking on some of the PC substance). In some instances a light object seems to combine with a dark as it maneuvers close to the PC. As it moves away from the PC – the light object would show in one frame – the dark in the next – as if spinning.

On closer observation of separate frames of light and larger objects moving in and out of a particular contrail on this video, it appears that this light and dark spinning is an object perhaps formed from the combination of the light and smaller dark objects. Other photographs taken by myself and others indicate that larger light objects are indeed surrounded on either side by darker smaller objects.

The larger or closer object appears to remain in a rectangular or oblong shape as the light and dark parts or objects which are smaller than the whole -- change position from frame to frame. The light object appears to move around the object. This could be due to reflection of some part of the object – though the light object remains bright whether at top right, right bottom, or left bottom. This does give the impression that this is a self-illuminating object or part of the larger rectangular object. This object either reappears during other video clips or there are more than one rectangular shaped object.

The rectangular object below the PC could be a whole object with light and dark elliptical shaped parts that is spinning as it moves and hovers – or a cluster of light and dark objects which have joined together in a dark gaseous material for some purpose (information exchange?). This object(s) appears to be releasing smaller particulate matter and spherical objects within a dark gaseous appearing substance.

Avery presents a panaramic view of a white thick billowing persistent contrail (PC) being laid followed by several zooms focusing in on the PC and the banks of clouds on either side of the PC. As the focus trains in on the PC, immediately one can observe hundreds of dark round/oval areas along with fewer light apparent objects embedded within the persistent contrail. These appear stationary with an occasional dark or light object moving in or out of the PC.

Avery zooms back out and in toward the PC and clouds several times which certainly lowers the possibility of other objects (e.g., birds, insects, debris) between the camera and the PC and clouds being the object(s) of focus….if not eliminating this possibility. As the camera zooms in toward the clouds a little later in the video from the panoramic view-- one immediately can see dark rounded/oval objects darting very rapidly from the clouds and beginning to move past one another in sweeping motions.

These dark objects continue to swarm around one another and appear to move in and out of the clouds near the PC multiple times. In addition to the "zoom factor" and movements in and out of PCs/clouds-- the extreme speed of these objects, their actual size as compared to the PC/clouds and their consistent round/oval shape also would eliminate birds or insects as a possible explanation.

Later in the video, brownish hazy oval shaped objects (perhaps the dark objects or "pucks" referred to above) move through the field of view seeming much closer to the ground– first appearing as whitish translucent areas. [I would need a video capture of these at close range to attempt to see if these are one and the same as the darker "puck" objects nearer the PC]

Other large and/or closer objects which are a hazy brownish color appear to pop in and out of view – appearing and disappearing suddenly. Two different objects (one near the crane and another with the house eve to the right) seemed to appear and disappear in the same or very near its previous location several times. Perhaps this sudden repetitive movement is an artifact of video editing.

A few of these "brown" hazy objects appearing closer to the lens ( without zoom) certainly could be insects or debris—further analysis comparing these fast appearing/disappearing objects with other known objects in the vicinity (e.g., the crane, roof and trees) is needed to clarify this in some instances.

INTERACTIONS WITH PERSISTENT CONTRAILS & CLOUDS

It appears that some kind of object or globular concentrated gas forms a "line" along one or both edges of persistent contrails. From other photographs and sources, these objects appear to make up the entire PC as it is being released by an aircraft or object….the substance or gas surrounding these objects and objects spreading out further away from the release point or originating plume.

In some segments of Avery’s video, the dark and light objects (the darker being much more plentiful) seem to remain stationary during the beginning phase of this spreading
motion….perhaps making trails and holes in the PC as they move out of their original
"lineup".

As the spreading motion and wind shear moves the PC contents, often there appear more "trails" behind light and dark spherical objects as they course their way through the PC. For some reason many of these movements made evident by these "trails" form diagonal lines through the PC. It appears that these movements influenced by wind and atmospheric conditions often break the PC up into diagonally shaped segments. After a time, these segments can appear like long elliptical clouds in a wave-like pattern.

As the PC continues to spread --the light objects appear to be first to move outside the
domains of the PC. Or it is plausible that some of these light objects originate elsewhere and move in and out of the PC as needed. [From my own observations of these light spherical or oval objects – they appear to be observational and directing the activity of the more numerous darker objects.]

At some point after the PC has spread out dispersing its contents significantly, dark objects can be seen moving through nearby clouds. It is hard to tell whether the clouds in Avery’s video have been formed from other previously laid PCs or are naturally occurring clouds. There appears to be a distinct interaction between the darker objects and these nearby clouds.

Some of the PCs in Avery’s video appear to be a distance above these clouds and the winds aloft at that altitude appear to be moving these PCs past the lower clouds in an "escalator" like fashion. At times it appears that the PCs are moving through relatively stationary clouds more than low clouds moving below a stationary contrail as can be the case with high PCs and cirrus-like clouds high in the atmosphere.

The dark objects when interacting with the nearby clouds zip around extremely fast in a "bow-tie" or "electron around a atom" fashion – forming tornadic looking appendages drifting down from a cloud. Other times this extremely fast ‘zipping’ activity produces clumps or bundles spiraling out leaving thin arms/spokes of gaseous substance. In other photos, I have discovered that these bundles contain clusters of anomalous objects. In one photo I took, an aircraft had passed through a PC and there appeared to be a clustering of objects within "puffs" of cloud-like substance – large fragments which formed on either side of the PC.

The consistency of these nearby clouds (or PC remnants) seems to be thicker and "elastic" than normal clouds….holding together, maintaining a distinct flowing consistency… as they stretch apart.

At some point, it appears that the darker objects which had been activity interacting with the PC and nearby cloud(s) moves away from them – pursuing other motions and activity at lower altitudes. Avery’s video shows a multitude of dark objects with some kind of substance surrounding them "swarming" around one another below cloud levels and moving in and out of the above cloud on occasion.

At a later time or other times, these dark objects move even closer to ground level swooping toward the camera and buzzing a crane show in a few frames of the video. This activity appears to be much more independent in nature than the swarming activity and PC/Cloud interactions and needs further study.

Occasionally, one can see what appears to be one of these dark objects sitting
just within or below a cloud remaining stationary as another zips around below. At times the darker objects appeared to move end over end similar to a football… an elliptical shaped object flipping end over end versus straight or spiral movement.

COMMENTS

While it does appear that anomalous objects are interacting with persistent contrails – it is not totally clear at this time that these objects originate from the contrail itself or suddenly attach themselves to a PC. There are clearly more than one type of object involved. What appears to be objects lining up or released from an aircraft or object may be a substance normally released within aircraft contrails. And of course this phenomena may or may not be attached to all persistent contrails.

While there may indeed be "debris" falling from some contrails--it seems clear to me (based upon Avery’s video, other photographs and my own observations) that self-propelled spherical objects do move to and from and within persistent contrails and associated clouds often leaving trails within them. And these objects appear to be performing a purposeful activity separately and in unison.

As to what this purposeful activity is – one can only speculate. It does appear that there is a dispersal and manipulation of PC and nearby cloud elements. Whether this is to make use of the substances contained within these or a means to redistribute them in some fashion remains to be examined. Another possibility is if these objects are being poured into the atmosphere within a substance necessary for their operation or survival – their actions may be inadvertantly moving the substance as the pass in and through it.

There also may be a connection between the apparent gaseous substance surrounding the objects and this mysterious substance in the persistent contrails and related clouds.
